The National Substance Abuse Committee has raised concern that some parents are using their young children to supply drugs to the buyers.

National Substance Abuse Committee member and Officer-In-Charge of Drugs at the CID Headquarters, Inspector Sakeo Ganivatu told Fijivillage this morning that they are investigating a Labasa couple for allegedly using their son, who is in Kindergarten, to supply marijuana to a buyer.

According to Inspector Ganivatu, upon receiving information, they checked the school bag of the student and found a parcel of marijuana. Upon questioning, the 5 year old boy told police that he was given the parcel by his parents to deliver it to a man.

However, when police questioned the parents they denied giving him any parcel.

Inspector Ganivatu said this is one reported case, however they suspect there are other people out there, who are involved in this kind of drug syndicate.
