Chiefs around the country who have met with the Great Council of Chiefs Review Committee, have made their stand clear that any chief that is associated or is a member of a political party should not be allowed to be a member of the chiefly body.
GCC Review Committee Secretary, Josateki Nawalowalo says that after visiting 6 of the 14 provinces in the country, it is clear that chiefs have identified the areas that they think should be polished before the next members of the council will be selected.
In the Ousted SDL Government, Ro Temumu Kepa and Ratu Suliano Matanitobua were members of the GCC and also part of the government.
Also there is proposal by the chiefs, that there is a need for each province to form there own council of chiefs, to choose their representative to the GCC meetings.
The GCC Review Team will be in the Tailevu Provincial House tomorrow to meet with the chiefs of Tailevu.
