Ben Tameifuna returns to start at tight-head prop, while Michael Fitzgerald replaces the injured lock Ross Filipo.
Bundee Aki starts at second five-eighth, with Tim Nanai-Williams shifting to centre and Tom Marshall dropping to fullback.
The match is the Chiefs’ first home match in New Plymouth after the Taranaki Rugby Union signed a new partnership with the Chiefs last year.
The Chiefs take on the Blues at 7.35pm tomorrow.
