The Chiefs will be without the services of Tim Nanai‑Williams when they face the Sharks in Durban on Sunday while Sonny Bill Williams could also miss the match.
Nanai-Willams is on his way home due to a broken finger while Williams is nursing a head injury which sustained after clash of heads with Stormers prop Vincent Koch in Cape Town over the weekend.
Williams returned to play after being cleared and stayed on the field until he was substituted late in the second half.
But since the match, Williams is battling to recover from the injury.
Chiefs assistant coach Tom Coventry said Williams is yet to start the concussion protocol, and if his condition doesn’t improve within the next day he will not be in action in Durban.
Marty McKenzie has arrived as Nanai-Williams’ replacement.
Leading the Super Rugby table after Round 5 are the Brumbies with 20 points, second are the Hurricanes with 18 points while the Stormers are in third place with 16 points.
The Chiefs will face the Sharks this Sunday at 5.10am.
