The Chiefs have suffered a significant injury blow ahead of their big Super Rugby clash against the Hurricanes in Wellington.

In‑form wing James Lowe has been ruled out of the match at Westpac Stadium with a minor shoulder injury, replaced on the left flank by Sam McNicol.

Lowe has been a key to the Chiefs' attack, which sees them six wins from seven and leading the overall competition standings.

The Chiefs play the Hurricanes at 7.35pm Saturday.
