The Chiefs Super Rugby game against the Blues is the first of a series of crucial New Zealand Conference battles on who will be the team to confirm their playoff berth.

With just five points separating the five New Zealand Super Rugby teams, every conference derby is crucial to the battle for the top spot, which the Chiefs currently hold.

A loss tonight in their first home game in Taranaki and then a bye next week would give all the Chiefs rivals a chance to go past them on the table and put pressure on the back-to-back champions to even make the playoffs.

The Chiefs will take on the Blues at 7.35pm tonight while the Rebels play the Hurricanes at 9.40pm
