A last‑minute Aaron Cruden penalty gave the Chiefs a messy 19‑17 Super Rugby victory over the Brumbies last night.
Charlie Ngatai was the sole Chiefs' try scorer, with Cruden kicking three penalties all up in a match where their forward pack often struggled.
The Brumbies were leading the Chiefs with two minutes remaining on the clock but they infringed and the Chiefs were awarded a penalty.
All Black and Chiefs flyhalf Aaron Cruden calmly kicked the penalty to earn his team the victory.
Meanwhile, powerful Fijian winger Taqele Naiyaravoro scored two tries last night to help defending Super Rugby Champions the Waratahs secure their first victory of the season when they beat the Rebels 38-28 with a bonus point.
Both teams scored four tries each so they both take a bonus point from the contest but the Rebels bonus point is their first in Melbourne against a fellow Australian side.
The Hurricanes have also secured their first Super Rugby victory at Loftus Versfeld since 2008 by beating the Bulls 13‑17.
They managed to keep the Bulls try less and also scored the only try of the match when Julian Savea went over 15 minutes from full time.
The Hurricanes will leave South Africa with two wins from two matches which they have not done since 2006 when they reached the Super Rugby final.
In Super Rugby matches today, the Highlanders and the Crusaders will meet at 6.35pm while the Reds will take on Western Force at 8.40pm.
The Stormers will face the Blues at 3.05am tomorrow while the Sharks will take on the Lions at 5.10am.
