Stephen Donald scored all of the Chiefs points against the Hurricanes last night and guided his side to a 16-8 win in Hamilton.

Donald kicked 3 penalties, made a try and a conversion to take the Chiefs to the second spot in the Super 14 points table.

Neither team scored a bonus point and crucially for the chasing teams the Hurricanes failed to score a point allowing the teams on the tails to catch up this weekend.

Flyhalf Stephen Donald also scored his 100th penalty in Super 14, to give the Chiefs a 9-8 lead at halftime.

He then scored and converted a 41st minute try for the only points of the second half as the Chiefs held on the 8th win of the season, a franchise record.

In wet and slippery conditions, kicking for goal and position separated the teams.

Donald kicked four goals from 5 attempts while Hurricanes flyhalf Willie Ripia landed only one of the 5 shots at goal.

In other games the Brumbies ended the Blues hopes for a semifinal spot with a 37-15 win.

The Bulls beat the Cheetahs 29-20 and the Stormers edge the Force 25-24 while Waratahs kept their semifinal chances alive with a 16-12 win against the Sharks 16-12.
