Concerns have been raised by most of the chiefs from Nadroga/Navosa, Ba and Ra to the Great Council of Chiefs review team that they want the chiefly body to be independent and not to show their support to any political parties.
Secretary Ratu Josateki Nawalowalo said the chiefs from the western division believe that if the GCC was independent, it could have resolved the current political situation.
Nawalowalo added that they also want those who will become the new members of the GCC to be selected by the respective chiefs of the province and not from the provincial council.
The GCC review committee will be in the chiefly village of Lomanikoro this hour to hold consultations with the Marama Roko Tui Dreketi, Ro Teimumu Kepa.
