NGO, Partners in Community Development Fiji has raised serious concerns that over the years traditional and modern Fijian Political leaders and the Methodist Church have abused the provincial councils as a means to achieving their own agenda.
Executive Director Alisi Daurewa said they strongly support the proposal in the draft Peoples charter to merge the provincial and advisory councils to put a stop to such use of the Provincial Councils.
Daurewa also said the Chiefs of Fiji and the Methodist Church have sidetracked from their roles and the Indigenous Fijians have suffered.
