The Public Service Commission Chairman has this afternoon stressed that former interim Finance Minister Mahendra Chaudhry was consulted before a final decision was made on the backdating of the pay restoration for civil servants.
Rishi Ram said the final decision lies with those in power adding that it was not fair to say that PSC had decided on its own not to backdate the pay restoration.
In a talkback show on Radio Sargam earlier this week, Chaudhry revealed that upon advice from the PSC, the interim cabinet had decided that the pay restoration would not be backdated.
Meanwhile, Fiji Teachers Union General Secretary, Agni Deo Singh has rubbished the comments by Chaudhry who said that PSC and Unions had reached an agreement on backdating the pay cut restoration.
Singh said Chaudhry has lied to the people of Fiji.
However, Ram acknowledge that they were in the process of talks when a decision had been made by the Interim Administration.
