The interim Finance Minister has rubbished statements by the SDL and NFP that he is trying to hold on to his post for as long as he can by saying that the Presidential Forum should be held in line with the work of the National Council for Building a Better Fiji.
Mahendra Chaudhry also said that comments made that he does not have any mandate to speak on these issues are laughable as he said the political parties should commit themselves to the People's Charter if they want to participate in the Presidential Forum.
The Labour Leader right now does not seem to have any mandate to say that discussions on electoral reform in the Presidential Forum should take place within the boundaries of the National Council for Building a Better Fiji.
SDL National Director Peceli Kinivuwai said Mahendra Chaudhry was not elected to his position and thus should not determine what, how and which issues should be discussed and within which boundaries as part of the Presidential Forum.
The Party of National Unity had earlier said that Fiji should stick to the terms of reference set up by Commonwealth Envoy, Sir Paul Reeves in the Presidential Forum and not bring in the proposal of the NCBBF.
