The Interim Minister for Finance Mahendra Chaudhry has appointed a new Chairman of the Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority however the name of new Chairman is not being revealed as yet.
Village News approached and questioned Mahendra Chaudhry on the matter and he only confirmed that an appointment has been made.
Under the current Finance Legislations, the Minister for Finance is responsible to appoint the FIRCA Chairman.
Permanent Secretary for Finance Peceli Vocea when contacted referred all questions to FIRCA CEO Jitoko Tikolevu.
However, Tikolevu told Village news that they are awaiting confirmation on the appointment of the new FIRCA Chairman from the Finance Ministry. He said there were some names mentioned earlier however they are not aware who has taken up the task to head the FIRCA Board.
