Fiji National 15's coach Inoke Male has encouraged Fiji's top players to chase contracts in Australia and New Zealand rather than Europe if they want to improve their game.

Male said that Europe remains the most popular destination for Fijian internationals, largely due to more financially lucrative deals being on offer.

Male said the restrictive style of European rugby often cramps the natural flair the Fijians bring to the game.

He said the type of game in Australia and New Zealand suits Fijians better and they often settled in those countries more readily than in European nations.

Male said having players based in New Zealand and Australia would also make it easier to assemble them for international duty, particularly given the reluctance of some European clubs to release players for Test matches.
