Charter Programme Launched to Reach Minority
The People’s Charter nationwide Community Outreach Programme for Indian and Minority Communities will be spearheaded by the Multi Ethnic Affairs Ministry supported by other ministries, NGO’s and civil society organizations and will be launched this Saturday in Labasa.
In a statement, the National Council for Building a Better Fiji said this will see the team moving into settlements of Indo Fijians and other minority communities in the North and around Fiji.
The team in the North will start work from Monday however, the NCBBF Consultation document will be taken to the people from tomorrow to get views on the proposed People's Charter.
Teams will start visiting villages and various communities and head of the Public Relations Media team Filimoni Kau said they had less than four months to compile the People's Charter.
He hopes people in the provinces would willingly come and consult with them as some were against the idea of the People's Charter process. There are about 38 members in the NCBBF and about 200 people in the various working groups who will distribute about 200,000 consultation documents to the general public.
