Charges against Former Post Fiji Executives withdrawn
The case was set for hearing on Monday afternoon in the Suva Magistrates court when FICAC Lawyer Henrieta Matakitoga informed the court that they are entering a "nolle prosequi" which means that FICAC is withdrawing the charges against the two.
She informed the court that FICAC does not intend to pursue the charges.
Mau and Kumar were then discharged by Magistrate Elisie Hudson after hearing the submissions from FICAC.
The charges related to allegations that Mau approved a bonus payment for Kumar without proper approval of the Post Fiji Board.
Meanwhile, Mau along with former Post Fiji Chairman Mahendra Patel and Dhirendra Pratap still face charges of abuse of office in a separate case.
The three are charged in relation to the purchase of the external Seiko clock for the Post Fiji headquarters in Suva where it is alleged that the clock was purchased from Prouds, a company owned by Patel, without the parties declaring Patels relationship with the company.
The hearing will start in the Suva High Court on January 10th, 2010.
