Charges are expected to be laid soon on the 32-year-old man, who allegedly killed a woman after throwing a stone at her, yesterday morning in Colo-I-Suva.

Valelevu Police Station Officer in Charge, SP Manoj Singh confirmed that the suspect is still being interrogated in relation to the incident.

SP Singh added that the suspect is also being questioned in relation to another incident where he allegedly robbed a taxi driver after the first incident.

However, the matter was not reported to police until the suspect was questioned.

Police officers were able to locate the driver and a complaint was lodged. The suspect is expected to be charged for both the incidents.

Sarojni Lata and her husband, who owned a bakery in Nakasi, were delivering bread to villagers in Colo-I-Suva when a man appeared from bushes and grabbed the bag containing money.

Lata's husband gave chase and the robber fled into the bushes, however, he returned with a big stone and threw it at the delivery van. The stone hit the woman who was sitting inside.

She sustained serious head injuries and was rushed to the Nausori Health Centre and then transferred to the CWM Hospital where she later passed away. The post mortem report revealed that she died of serious head injuries.
