The Fiji Bus Operators Association has written a letter to the government saying the procedure to change the bus timetable takes a while and any proposed changes to the time table may not be able to take place with immediate effect.

The Association said that the individual operators will have to make an application for timetable change to the Land Transport Authority, advertise the application in the dailies allowing for a 14 day period for objections or support and wait for consideration of the application by the LTA Board.

The Association said that where there are no school buses, students travel to school on passenger buses and any changes to accommodate the new school hours is going to affect adults who should be in the office by 8am.

The Association is also calling on the government to consider whether it may be simpler to review the daylight saving program currently in place and whether changes to the same may be appropriate.
