As from Monday 29th March, classes in schools will revert to the school timetable prior to daylight savings.

This is the directive from Education Minister Filipe Bole who said head teachers and principals of all schools in Fiji are advised to inform their students, parents and guardians about the change in the school timetable well in advance to avoid confusion.

Bole said the Ministry is conscious of the fact that schools have different starting times before daylight savings was introduced and they are to return to those times as from Monday 29th March.

Daylight savings which ends Sunday 28th March, brought about some issues of students reaching their schools late, prompting the Ministry to move the start time for all schools to 9am.

Bole said the public should understand that the Ministry does not regulate the schools starting time, but regulates only the length of a school day for both primary and secondary schools. He adds all schools must teach for the required number of hours each day and that is why schools have different starting and ending times.
