The Fiji Employers Federation has raised the issue of leave pay at the 10th Attorney General's Conference in Sigatoka yesterday highlighting the need to protect employees from losing more of their workers.

Chairman Nezhbitt Hazelman referred to the Employment Relation Promulgation of 2007 saying leave pay should be given out in installments instead of the usual full payment system currently in place.

Hazelman suggested for only 75% of the leave pay should be given, which will also act as an assurance that employees will return to work. He added many employers faced the problem of losing employees who took their full leave pay and never returning.

Hazelman said the new 75% system will benefit both parties as employees will have the remaining 25% saved when they return from leave.
