Any member of the Lau Provincial Council can take up the chairmanship role wether he is a chief or a nobleman.
That is the confirmation from the Roko Tui Lau, Ratu Joseva Navakaroko after he refuted claims reported in one of the dailies that the new chairmanship role will either be taken by Adi Koila Nailatikau or Adi Ateca Ganilau.
Navakaroko said out of the 40 council members, one of the suitable nominees will be appointed and to lead the council in the next three years.
The election is the first issue in the agenda at the Council meeting next Tuesday in Nadi.
Meanwhile Adi Koila and Adi Ateca are the sisters of the former chairman of the Lau Provincial council, now a fugitive, Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba Mara.
