Certain service within the Health Ministry will be out sourced so that health services are not affected after the retirement of 311 staff last week.

Services to be outsourced are security, laundry and cleaning, while there will be the establishment of a nursing agency for part time workers with immediate recruitment of General Wage Earners in one staff establishments such as those in the outer islands and rural areas.

The Minimum Qualification Requirements will be waived to facilitate staff appointments in specific positions with PSC approval.

Also, LOCUM, the arrangement for senior and specialist doctors to work on a part time basis at Health facilities according to the need for their services, will be re-negotiated.

The Ministry will also re-engage specialist skills at same level of salary scale with PSC approval.
