The new head of the Catholic Church or Archbishop of Fiji should have certain qualities and should have an understanding of issues in today's world.
These are the words of Vicar General Father Beni Kaloudau to the members of the Catholic Church in Fiji who have received letters from the Pope's representative in the Pacific, the Apostolic Nuncio in Wellington Archbishop Charles Balvo, to submit either three or more names of priests they deem fit to succeed current head, Archbishop Petero Mataca.
Kaloudau said this is just one of two letters that scrutineers will receive, the second is where they have to choose just one name as their choice for the position as head of the Catholic Church in Fiji.
He confirmed the final decision will come from the Vatican in Rome.
