Certain goods declared dangerous
The items include incapacitating sprays, Taiyo Brand cigarette lighters, PVC Toys, toys and childcare articles which contain plasticizer, Corona Electric shower, YO-YO Balls which are filled with fluids, fireworks and firecrackers, premier portable rechargeable emergency lamps, roofing shack foils and milk products that contain the contaminant melamine.
There is also an order issued prohibiting the supply of lamb flaps and imposition of a temporary ban on mini cup jelly.
The Ministry Officials confirmed that these items have been found in some outlets in Fiji and the retailers have been prosecuted under the Trade Standards and Quality Control Decree 1992.
The Ministry is urging members of the public to notify them when coming across any such items which have been declared as dangerous goods.
Under the decree, anyone found selling these items declared dangerous goods could face a maximum fine of $25,000.
