The Fiji Institute of Technology will establish three Research Centres of Excellence to foster research and innovation.
Director Dr Ganesh Chand said these centres are the Centre for Appropriate Technology and Development, the Centre for Applied Economic Research and the Centre for Drama and Creative Arts.
Chand said through the centres, FIT would be able to rapidly establish a national, regional and international reputation for quality research and R&D output.
He said each centre would provide a platform for critical analysis of topical issues, do consultancies, put a strong emphasis on research and development and lift the research and publication profile of FIT.
