The National Fire Authority has managed to determine the cause of fire which destroyed over fifteen bures at the Vacoko Prison Rehabilitation Centre last night.
Chief Fire Officer, Mark Reid confirms a team of investigators visited the scene this morning who believe the fire started from a pile of rubbish lit near one of the bures.
Reid adds that he will meet with the community next week to advise them on rebuilding their homes.
About 16 bures, which is believed to be the quarters for the Church of the Poor was completely destroyed by fire last night. He added that a community hall was also burnt to the ground. Firefighters managed to save eight bures in which about 50 people are now taking shelter.
Lami police confirm that there were no injuries.
