Catholic Catechists or Vakavavulis from around Fiji converged in Wairiki, Taveuni, last week for a General Meeting held every three years.
Wairiki Parish Priest, Father John Krispburn said around 350 catechists and their families gathered at Wairiki to also have a review of their work carried out for the church in their different areas.
According to Father Krispburn, Archbishop Petero Mataca visited the Catechists yesterday in Taveuni and conducted a mass for the weeklong retreat.
Archbishop Mataca also opened the Fiji Catholic Women's League Annual Convention at the Immaculate Conception Parish of Lami over the weekend.
The amount raised by 32 parishes came to total of $80,000.
According to Lami Catholic Women's League President, Alisi Saumatua the money raised will be used mainly for the training of priests overseas and for the general upkeep of the Catholic Church around Fiji.
