The developers of the $290 million casino project One Hundred Sands Limited Chairperson said he has paid the government US$100,000 penalty and they are working on their response to government.
The penalty clauses for not opening the casino doors in Nadi by the 1st of this month have already started for One Hundred Sands Limited.
There are no developments at the site.
It is fenced with a big signboard with only a digger parked at the site for days.
When questioned on the months of delays and no developments at the site Larry Claunch said they have a lot of things to deal with.
Claunch also said they are securing the funding for the project in segments from their overseas investors and constructions is expected to begin before the end of this year.
Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum had said that the government will soon make a decision on the future of the casino license held by One Hundred Sands Limited.
According to the terms of the license, One Hundred Sands have to pay the government US$100,000 per month from the 1st of this month until the casino is completed.
