Flying Fijians wing, Filimoni Delasau's case regarding assault charges was terminated by Lautoka Magistrate Shafulla Khan this afternoon after he told the court that he had reconciled with the victim.
Delasau assaulted a sixth form student after the Fiji and New Zealand Maori game last Saturday, however he told the court that they had reconciled and that he had given the victim $70 as compensation.
Meanwhile, the Fiji Rugby Union Games Committee will look into Filimoni Delasau's case seriously before handing down its decision on the star winger.
High Performance Unit Manager Peter Murphy says they will look at the FRU's Code of Conduct before deciding on whether further disciplinary action will be taken against him.
"In this case, we will have a look at the Code of Conduct and have a look in relation to Delasau. This is very unbecoming of his character. We need to get further reports from himself. He needs to come and see us and come and have a chat to us about it. I’m not going to say anymore on the matter apart from the fact that we will look to see if he has broken the Code of Conduct and from that we will drive whatever action we’ll take from that." Peter Murphy.
Murphy added that even though Delasau's assualt case had been dealt with in court this afternoon, Delasau still has no chance of joining the team in Japan for Sunday's match.
"No. Not at this stage – we have brought that into consideration. We’ve got 26 members in Japan. We have ample coverage from that and so at this stage no there won’t be any chance at all of him traveling to Japan." Peter Murphy.
