The Water Authority has temporarily suspended the carting of water to its metered areas in the Western Division that have been affected by the recent dry spell.

Water Authority of Fiji Team Leader Corporate Communications Michelle Tevita-Singh said this is because the current rainfall experienced in the Western Division has replenished the levels at the reservoirs resulting in normal supply.

However Singh confirmed that the carting of water to non-metered areas especially in the rural areas continues.

She added that their main concern are those who do not receive water supply from the Authority and it will take some time for the boreholes and wells to fill up and provide sufficient supply for people who depend on them.
