Dan Carter will not travel to South Africa with the Crusaders as he and his wife, Honor are having a baby.

Carter tweeted this morning that he is gutted not to be heading to South Africa with the team to play the Sharks and the Stormers but is very excited about becoming a Dad for the first time in April.

The Crusaders final match against the Force is on April 13.

The Crusaders management have been planning to cover Carter during his absence.

Recently they approached former Crusaders and Blues first five eighth Stephen Brett about joining the squad for their tour but he is nursing a foot injury.

Tyler Bleyendaal and Tom Taylor are the other alternatives at No 10.

Meanwhile, the Crusaders will play the Kings at 6.35pm this Saturday.

At 6.35pm tomorrow, the Chiefs will take on the Highlanders.
