Dan Carter will not be back before November's tour north, but the jury's still out on whether skipper Richie McCaw could make the All Blacks' hotly anticipated Johannesburg rematch against the tough Springboks.

Coach Steve Hansen today confirmed Carter would be out for around six weeks after suffering a shoulder injury during last night's grueling and controversial 29-15 victory over South Africa at Eden Park.

Cater will be replaced by Canterbury's Tom Taylor and Aaron Cruden is expected to be fit again to contest the starting jersey with Beauden Barrett.

All will meet Springboks again in Johannesburg in early October.

Meanwhile the Wallabies finally recorded their first win with a 14-13 triumph over Argentina.

The next matches will be on the 29th of this month with the All Blacks facing the Pumas at 10.40am while the Springboks meet the Wallabies at 3am.
