All Blacks first five Dan Carter is expected to be named on the bench for the first test of the year against the Flying Fijians on Friday night.

Carter’s been hampered by injuries throughout the Crusaders’ Super Rugby campaign and is desperate to have time on the field.

But he said he’s unlikely to start against Fiji at Carisbrook on Friday.

He added the way they trained today he will either be on the bench, or not playing at all.

The first All Blacks side of the year is named tomorrow morning at 7am.

For halfback, Piri Weepu ,he said they will not take the Fijians lightly after what happened to the Wallabies against Samoa on Sunday.
