All Blacks maestro Daniel Carter has defended Colin Slade’s selection as his back-up at the Rugby World Cup.

The game’s premier first five-eighth said that he has a huge confidence in Slade, although the 23 year old committed a lot of errors during the 18-5 loss to the Springboks.

Carter believes that Slade will learn from a tougher place like South Africa where he was not getting front-foot ball which makes the job a lot tougher.

All Blacks head coach Graham Henry admitted Slade’s retention was debated before it was decided to keep the faith in the versatile play maker.

The All Blacks will name their side for the Tri-Nation decider tomorrow morning and Saturday’s Test match kicks-off at 10pm.
