The National Fire Authority has urged business houses to carry out fire safety and fire risks assessments on their properties to minimize the risk of fire incidence.

Acting Chief Executive Officer Jone Koroi said fire safety management assists in identifying what these fire related risks would be and how it can be managed.

His comment comes after the Valebasoga Tropik Board Joinery workshop was destroyed in a fire earlier this week.

Koroi said it is vital to know and understand how health, safety and fire regulations apply and what fire safety systems should be in place.

Meanwhile, Labasa chief Fire Officer John Pillay confirmed they have concluded their investigations in relation to the joinery workshop and the report has been sent to their Suva office.
