Three people escaped with their lives after the vehicle they were travelling in veered off a cliff in Matanipusi Hill, Serua this afternoon.

Eye witnesses at the scene earlier told Fijivillage that the car veered off the road and fell off the cliff and the driver who managed to jump out confirmed that 2 others were trapped inside.

Police confirmed that the other 2 passengers also escaped and no one was injured. Police are still at the scene.

Meanwhile, Police are warning members of the public to refrain from speeding and drinking and driving as the Courts Homecenters IDC comes to an end this afternoon.

Divisional Traffic Officer Western, ASP Narayan Swami said they will be working on zero tolerance policy whereby those caught behind the wheels under the influence of liquor will have to spend the night in a Police cell.

The booze bus is out on the highways and breathalyzer tests are also being conducted in all major districts.
