Sam Cane introduced himself on the world stage last night as the man most likely to fill the boots of the All Black captain, however coach Steve Hansen will not be rushing him.

The open side flanker was a stand out in the All Blacks 60-0 thrashing of Ireland last night, putting to bed any questions about his ability to step up and be a dominant force at Test level.

Cane's performance was not only impressive for his two tries, but his high work rate was evident as he was consistently the first man to the breakdown and forced a number of turnovers.

Meanwhile, in other international matches, England drew 14-all with South Africa, France beat Argentina 49-10, Scotland scored a last minute try to beat Samoa 17-16 while the Wallabies defeated Wales 20-19
