Good news for cane farmers around the country as they are expected to receive their cane payment today.
Sugarcane Growers Council Chairman, Jain Kumar confirms farmers will receive their payment based on $12 per tonne.
He said it’s a timely payment as farmers gear up for schools to reopen for second term next week and most importantly cane cutting season to begin later this month.
Farmers are hopeful of receiving full payment this time as some cane farmers have found previously that money was deducted from their payment in the form of loan repayments etc.
