The Fiji Cane Growers Association is expected to file legal action against the Growers Council for deferring the Cane Growers Council Elections.
General Secretary Bala Dass said under the Sugar Industry Act the council has no powers to defer the elections.
The Growers Council board met last Friday and decided that growers election be deferred to a later date as the council does not have a Chief Executive to supervise the elections.
Sundresh Chetty has been appointed acting CEO for the council.
The Growers elections were supposed to be held at the end of this month.
