The Chairman of the Fiji Cancer Society said while they are doing their best to create awareness, offer support and raise funds for the cancer victims in Fiji, much more is needed if we are to put a stop on the increasing number of people dying with cancer.
Joe Singh said in most cases the sickness is detected at a very late stage or not detected at all and this is something they are looking into.
Singh added they need the support of Corporate organizations.
Meanwhile, Singh confirmed yesterday the society has so far collected $176,000 however, this amount is not enough to meet the cost of building a hospice for cancer patients.
With an average of 450 new cases, 460 people die each year due to cancer.
