Tomasi Cama could be the first Fijian to win the IRB 7s player of the year award.

This comes after the 30 year old playmaker was nominated along with fellow Kiwi Frank Halai and England's Matt Turner for the award.

Cama who guided New Zealand to three wins this season was also instrumental in yesterdays Scotland 7s triumph.

The former Nabua secondary school student is the top points scorer this season and has also scored 28 tries heading into this weekend's England 7s.

The IRB 7s player of the year award was introduced in 2004 and was first won by Simon Amor of England.

Other winners include Uale Mai and Mikaele Pesamino of Samoa, DJ Forbes and Afeleke Pelenise of New Zealand while last year it was awarded to South African Cecil Afrika.

The final leg of the World Series will be held in England this week and Fiji takes on Spain at 9.30pm on Saturday, then Zimbabwe at 12.36am on Sunday.

Fiji's final pool match is at 5.22am Sunday.
