A statement has been issued by the twenty two representatives of Pacific Island countries from the Pacific NCD Forum calling on the UN to include the fight against Non Communicable Diseases as one of the Millennium Development Goals.
This is according to World Health Organizations Technical Officer for Food and Nutrition and physical activity Dr Temo Waqanivalu.
Waqanivalu said a statement by the leaders was one of the outputs of the three day forum last week which also urges leaders in the pacific to mobilize appropriate resources for the prevention and control of NCD's.
Dr Waqanivalu said that Fiji has been improving with their efforts to reduce NCD.
