Police in California are looking for a man who was allegedly hired to kill a 42-year-old former Fiji resident, who was shot dead on Sunday night in California.

Police yesterday confirmed that Kashmir Singh Billon's cause of death was a gunshot wound and this is the first homicide case that has been reported to them after December 2006.

CBS News reported that Billon, who would have turned 43 yesterday, was found lying next to a BMW and multiple bullet holes could be seen in the driver's side door.

Meanwhile, Billon's business partner, 41-year-old Reginald Robinson, was jailed on a charge of solicitation of murder of Billon.

A father of three, Billon who migrated to USA with his parents while he was still in school was a mortgage lender, who ran Billon Enterprises and records show that he owned many properties and had filed many unlawful detainer or eviction lawsuits.
