Cakaudrove tikinas to discuss bylaws
Provincial council chairman Emitai Boladuadua said that the seven paged bylaws have been handed over to the Tikina representatives for them to deliberate on.
Some of the issues expected to be discussed are the taking for granted the Fijian way of life and the chiefly system in villages around Fiji and Rotuma, which is why the bylaws were created to ensure that the Fijian village laws are adhered to and secondly to join and strengthen the Fijian way of daily life to follow the government laws.
The bylaws also want to ensure that the whole Fijian village life is free from unlawful conduct which has begun to creep into villages and which needs to be eliminated, and to bring back and ensure respect for the traditional way of life that Fiji is known for internationally.
Meanwhile, the fifteen tikinas in Cakaudrove have shown their support to the government.
Yaroi village headman Ratu Isimeli Tabucala confirmed that a motion was filed yesterday by the fifteen tikinas in Cakaudrove showing their support to government.
He added that the motion was brought up in their various Bose va Koro and then discussed in the Bose ni Tikina as their overall chief Tui Cakau was not present in the meeting citing personal reasons.
The Cakaudrove Provincial Council meeting continues this morning.
