The Cakaudrove Kaji rugby team has stamped its mark as the team to beat in the opening day of the Western Kaji Rugby Competition in Nadi.

Cakaudrove started well from the U-9 to the U-14 grades winning all of their first pool games.

Organiser Tuirami Uluinakauvadra said the level of competition provided by the Northern boys has caused upsets to teams like Nadi, Nasinu and Baravi from Nadroga.

Tuirami added Cakaudrove held U-12 champions Nadi to a 7-7 draw, while their U-13 side beat Baravi 14-0 and their U-14 beat Yasawa 12-7.

In other results, Lautoka beat Baravi 24-0 in the U-14 and Nasinu also beat Waya 21-0.

In the Fiji Primary Kaji rugby competition at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori the race for the first and second place in the pool standing is between Suva and Lomaiviti in most of the grades.

Newcomers Lomaiviti have been in winning form in the U-14 grade beating defending champions Suva 6-5 and Tailevu South 14-0 today.

Looking at the results from this morning in the U-9's - Naitasiri beat Rewa 14-0, U-10 Suva beat Northland 7-0 while Rewa and Naitasiri played to a 0-0 draw.

In the U-12 grade, Suva beat Naitasiri 14-0.
