Captain Setefano Cakau said over the past few weeks they have been reminded of the winless ghost that has been haunting them.
He added they are mindful of their history in Dubai but they also have to maintain a consistent performance.
Fiji will meet Spain at 6.50pm this Friday, followed by Scotland at 10.36pm and then the final pool game is against Kenya at 3.58 on Saturday morning.
