Prison Warden Setefano Cakau is now being eyed by Digicel Fiji 7's coach Joe Savou, as the top choice for the rover position.
While the team announcement will be made after the trials next Wednesday, Savou has made his stand clear that Cakau's performance in the rover position in the IRB 7's series and the Pacific Games has been impressive and this could give him the nod ahead of the others.
The other players who are also vying for the rover position are Vereniki Goneva, Epeli Dranivasa and Tomasi Mawi.
Fiji is in Pool B with Argentina, Australia and Zimbabwe.
Barring any upset the side will meet with either France or Scotland in the 1/4 finals with a semi-final show-down against Pacific neighbours Samoa.
Defending IRB 7's champion New Zealand could be Fiji's opponent in the final if there will be no upset.
