Cagi breaks 13 yr old record
Stella Marist student, Willmar Cagi competing for Suva District broke the record in the under 12 girls Long Jump event. The new record now stands at 4.74 while the old record was 4:55 set in 1994 by Nadi districts Titilia Latianara.
Speaking to Village sports after breaking the new record and winning the gold medal, Cagi said hard work has paid her off.
The other record in the field event came in the under 10 boys Long Jump. Lomary primary School's Elasio Waqadua set a new record with a jump of 4.93 metres while the old record stand at 4.33 set in 2003 by Emosi Bainivalu of Ra District.
Meanwhile Cakaudrove / Bua/ Macuata District is leading the girls division after the 1500 metres finals and few field events that has already completed with 2 gold and 1 silver. Nadi and Suva share second place with 1 gold, 1 silver and Namosi in third with 1 gold.
In the boys division Kadavu leads with 2 gold, 2 bronze with Ra in second place with 1 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze while Serua / Beqa and tavueuni have so far won 1 gold each.
