The Interim Cabinet has endorsed the "Radisson Telecom Accord" signed between the interim government and the three telecom operators FINTEL, Vodafone and Telecom Fiji Limited to put an end to their monopoly status.

Interim Minister for Communication Taito Waradi confirms that the accord maps out in detail the new landscape in which all current operators and new entrants will operate from.

Waradi said we have waited 10 long years for a liberalized market to happen and the long journey is finally over.

Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama has hailed the Accord as the biggest achievement for the interim government that would impact the lives of everyone in the country, from corporate businesses to the ordinary villagers.

Further details of the accord will be made public once the boards of FINTEL, Vodafone and Telecom Fiji also endorse the deal.

After four days of intense negotiations the accord was signed between the interim government and the three telecom carriers at the Radisson Hotel in Nadi last Tuesday.
