Cabinet has approved the declaration of Vaileka Centre and its build up areas as Rakiraki Town.
The cabinet decision was made after a submission by the Local Government Minister Colonel Samuela Saumatua.
Colonel Saumatua said that a general action plan has been drawn up to guide the works on the declaration of the Town, the formation of a Council, and its taking over of the administration and management of the new town.
He adds that the Action Plan has also been prepared for the infrastructure Development works which will be undertaken by the Provincial Development Ministry under the Commissioner Western, Health Ministry, Ra Rural Local Authority and the National Fire Authority.
